“Ryan Seacrest is known and loved by television audiences around the world. His work on American Idol is unparalleled in the industry," said Mike Darnell, President of Alternative Entertainment for FOX.

"He’s a consummate host of major live broadcast events," Darnell continued, "and a proven talent who always makes it look easy, which makes him the perfect choice for this year's Emmy telecast.”

Dick Askin, Chairman and CEO of the Television Academy, added: "Ryan Seacrest appeals to a broad audience, including the highly desirable young adult demographic, so he should serve as a magnet for attracting a diverse array of viewers to our Emmy telecast."

"He is charismatic and talented, and he will be very comfortable in the production environment that has been created for this year's telecast," Askin noted.

Ken Ehrlich, executive producer of the 59TH Primetime Emmy Awards, said: “I’m excited about working with Ryan. This year’s show will be different in a number of ways; the freshness, enthusiasm and professionalism that Ryan brings to everything he does will be a perfect match for some of the innovative things we have planned."

"I’ve watched Ryan’s growth on live events with great delight," Ehrlich shared, "and we’re going to have a great time with him on the Emmys.”

Seacrest Keeps Radio Ties, Forges Ahead in Television

Seacrest is the host of American Idol and currently serves as managing editor and lead anchor for “E! News.” He will host the entertainment portion of FOX’s Super Bowl broadcast this winter, marking the first time the event has featured a host and red carpet pre-game coverage.

NBC BENEFITS FROM 'AMNE$IA' WITH NEW ORIGINAL QUIZ SHOW FROM MARK BURNETT PRODUCTIONS

BURBANK, Calif. – August 22, 2007 – NBC is once again partnering with Mark Burnett Productions for the next great TV quiz show -- "Amne$ia." Emmy Award-winning producer Mark Burnett ("The Apprentice," "Survivor," "Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader") and producer Roy Bank ("Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader") have created the newest quiz show challenge where the contestant is their own worst enemy.

The announcement was made today by Craig Plestis, Executive Vice President, Alternative Programming, Development and Specials, NBC Entertainment.

"NBC and Mark Burnett have always made a dynamic team and we're ready to introduce another entertaining and unique alternative series," said Plestis. "'Amne$ia' is a relatable and nostalgic game show that's deceptively simple -- and yet exposes how shaky all of our fondest memories can be. With Mark's track record and brand recognition, the show promises to be the latest in his string of successful programs."

"The simple relatable concepts always cut through and get attention on television," said Burnett. "Amne$ia fits that to a 'T,' and I'm excited for it to be my next big hit on NBC."

"Part of the fun of game shows is watching contestants struggle with recalling what should be the simplest information," added Bank. "To recall music lyrics and grade school test answers certainly seems like the simplest challenge, but nothing should be easier than recalling the facts of your own life. Nothing will be more entertaining than watching contestants draw blanks."

"Amne$ia" is a high-energy game show where contestants are challenged to answer tough questions for money and prizes. The twist? All of the questions come from the contestant's own life. Memories will be challenged and blasts from the past revealed when "Amne$ia" premieres on NBC later this season.

Burnett and Bank's other reality show credits include "Are Smarter Than a 5th Grader" and "The Restaurant." Burnett's successes with NBC include "The Apprentice" and "The Contender."

Mark Burnett Productions (MBP) is a leading production company in content for both primetime television and the internet. MBP revolutionized television with hits such as "Survivor," "The Apprentice," "The Contender," "Rock Star: INXS," the new smash hit "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?" and the co-production with Steven Spielberg and DreamWorks Television, "On the Lot." Other MBP projects in 2007 include: "Pirate Master" and the "2007 MTV Movie Awards" which Mark Burnett Executive Produced. MBP also partnered with AOL in 2006 on the highly successful interactive adventure "Gold Rush," the first-ever unscripted project to be produced exclusively for the internet. In addition, MBP has established a scripted division and is developing comedies and dramas for television as well as feature films. MBP also successfully reintroduced product placement as an integral part of each of its shows and has garnered a total of 48 Emmy nominations since 2001.

The series is created and executive produced by Burnett and Bank. "Amne$ia" is a Mark Burnett Production.
