Written by Shawnee Penkacik

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 8, 2005--Canine superstar Benji is joining other celebrities to help those impacted by Hurricane Katrina. "Benji was rescued from a shelter in Gulfport and has a special place in her heart for those who have suffered so much from the recent deadly hurricane that devastated her home town," says Joe Camp, creator of the floppy-eared hero.

The American Red Cross has partnered with "Charity Folks" to host a celebrity auction September 2 through September 16. Benji's one-of-a-kind item for auction is the celeb pup's attendance at a birthday party chosen by the winning bidder, along with a private screening of her new movie Benji Off the Leash. The winning bidder will also become the owner of the actual mountain bike ridden by actor Nick Whittaker in the film.

Benji and her writer/director Joe Camp will provide entertainment at the party, photos ops, and lots of licks and kisses. Go to www.charityfolks.com to get your bid in! For more information on Benji: www.benji.com.
