(December 2005) - With three HBO series in contention for Best Comedy and Best Drama, along with nods to Kyra Sedgwick ("The Closer"), Charlie Sheen ("Two and a Half Men") and Larry David ("Curb Your Enthusiasm"), Warner Bros. International Television made a strong showing as the nominations for the 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) in Beverly Hills.

In the running for Best Television Series - Musical or Comedy are previous Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and second-time Golden Globe nominee "Entourage." "Rome" is nominated for Best Television Series - Drama.

"Rome" star Polly Walker is up for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series - Drama, her first Golden Globe notice. Fellow nominee Kyra Sedgwick marks her third Golden Globe nomination and the first major accolade for "The Closer."

Previous Golden Globe winner Charlie Sheen repeats last year's nomination for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Musical or Comedy for "Two and a Half Men," facing off against prior multiple Golden Globe nominee and Emmy winner Larry David of "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

Three lauded HBO productions are competing for Best Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television: miniseries "Empire Falls" and telefilms "Lackawanna Blues" and "Warm Springs," which won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Made for Television Movie. Recognized in the longform acting categories are S. Epatha Merkerson ("Lackawanna Blues"), Ed Harris ("Empire Falls") and Cynthia Nixon and Kenneth Branagh (both of "Warm Springs"). Merkerson won an Emmy for her "Lackawanna Blues" role.

In the supporting actor/actress categories, which combine series with longform productions, nominations go to Jeremy Piven of "Entourage" and Joanne Woodward and Paul
Newman, both of "Empire Falls." Newman won an Emmy for his "Empire Falls" role.

WBITV's feature film Golden Globe nominations this year are "A History of Violence" (Best Motion Picture - Drama, actress Maria Bello), "North Country" (actress Charlize Theron, supporting actress Frances McDormand), "Syriana" (supporting actor George Clooney, composer Alexandre Desplat), "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" (actor Johnny Depp) and "Paradise Now" (Best Foreign Language Film).

Miss Golden Globe 2006 is Dakota Johnson, daughter of Melanie Griffith (star of "Twins" and a former Miss Golden Globe) and Don Johnson ("Just Legal").

The HFPA awarded the first Golden Globe for film in the 1940s and added honors for television productions in 1955. The 63rd Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony will be broadcast live Monday, January 16, 2006, on NBC.

Warner Bros. International Television Distribution is one of the largest providers of current programming worldwide.
